| Background: |
The TILAK is a hospital society which, beside the Innsbruck University
Medical Center (1500 beds), contains four other smaller hospitals
in Tyrol. In the year 2002, an IT strategy committee was founded
in order to advise the TILAK director with regard to questions in
the area of strategic information management.

| Goal: |
The first goal of the IT strategy committee was to work on an IT
strategy for the TILAK. Making available up-to-date information
technology is seen as a strategic instrument with regard to the
provision of best possible health care and as the foundation for
improved management and scientific research.

| Method: |
Creation of an IT strategy in diverse meetings
and workshops. |
| |
|
| Results: |
The TILAK IT strategy 2003-2007 was approved by the director of
the Tyrolean Provincial Hospitals Ges.m.b.H on December 5, 2002.
